Meet Our Judges

Jon “Smalls” Smith
Director of Judging
I’m Smalls, the Director of Judges at Monolith, who has been officiating Magic since 2021. My work on the rules side of the game reflects the same values I bring to competition — precision, integrity, and a deep respect for what high-level play demands.
As a cEDH player, I’ve built my competitive reputation piloting Heliod, The Radiant Dawn // Heliod, the Warped Eclipse and Yoshimaru / Thrasios, earning multiple top finishes across the tournament circuit. I believe understanding the game at a mechanical level makes you a sharper, more accountable competitor — and that’s exactly the kind of player Monolith is built around.
At Monolith, I’m focused on helping the team grow with purpose. That means developing players who are technically prepared, but also ones who carry themselves with integrity at every event we attend. My experience as a Judge informs how I approach that — understanding the rules deeply, handling difficult situations with composure, and setting the expectation that how you conduct yourself matters as much as how you play.

Justin “JDog” Wright
Judge Advisor
I’m a Judge Advisor at Monolith. I have been playing magic since 2015 starting with standard at my local card shop before switching to commander in 2018-2019 also got my judge certification that same year mostly to help my locals be able to host events.
In 2020, I started judging most of the online scene starting with Ka0s tournaments and grew as a judge from that point forward. If you have played in any cEDH online events I probably judged one of them during that time. My favorite thing about being part of Monolith is the ability to not only grow as a player and judge, but the ability to play against some of the best players in the cEDH space.
