Monolith Rolls Through The Land Go Expo
By: Tim Sank
Team Monolith was proud to compete at the Land Go Expo, joining an incredible field of players across multiple premier events. Once again, Monolith delivered an outstanding performance, earning top finishes in three of the five events the team entered and continuing to establish itself as one of the most dominant forces in competitive cEDH.
The weekend began with Land Go’s second-ever Team Event, where Team Monolith put on a commanding performance from start to finish. Dallas Glaze once again proved himself to be the team event MVP, posting an impressive eleven points and leading the charge for the second consecutive team competition. Team event newcomers Tim Sank and Heyward Charles wasted no time making their mark, each contributing a remarkable ten points. Team Captain Jordan Drake rounded out the effort with five points, bringing Monolith’s final total to an astounding thirty-six points—far ahead of the rest of the field and enough to secure a decisive victory.
Many players regarded the Land Go Commander Invitational as the premier cEDH event of the year, and Team Monolith rose to the occasion. Both Heyward Charles and Matthew Swaney advanced to Day Two of the tournament, showcasing the depth and strength of the team’s roster. Heyward, piloting his signature Ral, Monsoon Mage deck, battled through a stacked field to finish ninth overall and earn thirteen points. Meanwhile, Monolith’s rising star Matthew Swaney continued his incredible season with a third-place finish, coming just one match short of capturing one of Magic: The Gathering’s most iconic prizes—the Black Lotus.
The success continued in the Land Go Expo: Nashville Hot! Redemption Event. With 113 players registered, the three-round scaling points tournament featured fierce competition from beginning to end. Tim Sank delivered an exceptional performance, finishing sixth overall without dropping a single round throughout the event. Lily Drake also put together a strong run, finishing nineteenth and narrowly missing a Top 16 appearance.
The entire Team Monolith roster represented the organization with professionalism, sportsmanship, and elite-level play throughout the weekend. We are incredibly grateful to Land Go for hosting such an outstanding event and for their continued support of the competitive cEDH community.
Finally, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our sponsors, especially Land Go, Heavy Play, and Animal House Cards. Their support allows Team Monolith to continue competing at the highest level, and we could not do it without them.
Another weekend, another strong showing from Team Monolith—and we’re just getting started.
